A post to remind you of work that needs to be completed, either via your blog or handed in. I have created a list of tasks that should have been completed – mostly essays. You also need to read through the work that is on the blog to ensure that you have worked through all the in class material.

For those who have been ‘treading the boards’ as part of the school production, congratulations on your fabulous dramatics! Now it is important that you catch up with work you missed in class – you have until 14th February. Let me know if there is anything you are unsure about.

Tasks

1. ‘The Great Gatsby’ essay: How does Fitzgerald establish the characters of Nick, Daisy, Tom and Jordan in Chapter One?

2. Close reading of an extract from ‘The Great Gatsby’.

3. Blog and presentation on a given form of poetry.

4. Timed essay on Rossetti poems (1 hour). Choice of questions:

  • How far do you agree with the view that an
    overwhelming sadness hangs over Rossetti’s poems?
  • Write about the ways Rossetti tells the story in the
    first 50 lines of [you choose poem].
  • How do writers use repetition to create meanings
    in their texts?

5.  Second timed essay on Rossetti poems (1 hour):
